The Woodbourne Center, a Nexus Family Member, supports and cares for children and their families who have become involved in the child welfare system, the juvenile justice system, and mental health programs, and gives children new coping skills, a foundation in education, and a positive self-outlook. Family-centered, trauma-informed, psychiatric residential programing addresses harmful sexual behaviors and emotional and behavioral issues. Treatment Foster Care is also offered through the site.
The Staff Accountant will perform financial processes, procedures and financial statement generation. Ensure that the sub-ledgers are interfaced to the general ledger in a timely matter and prepare and post recurring and adjusting journal entries to the general ledger monthly. Reconcile balance sheets and selected income statement accounts. Assist with preparation or review of monthly finance reports and schedules used to reconcile revenues. Participate in the internal and external audit function as requested. Support the academy on an “as-needed” basis. Identify inconsistencies in the accounting function and communicate to Business Office Manager. Provide assistance to the academy in complying with licensing, governmental, and other regulatory entities. Maintain policies and procedures accounting manuals for the academy in compliance with Nexus guidelines. Establish and maintain positive working relationships with academy and corporate personnel. Attend staff meetings and training sessions as required by Nexus/ and or the academy. Understand and support the Nexus philosophy and treatment modalities.
Possesses strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP); sound mathematical, technical and analysis skills. Demonstrates the ability to plan, prioritize, organize and problem solve to effectively manage multiple projects and activities; exercises good judgment in making sound, well-informed decisions Is proactive, results-oriented and adapts rapidly to new situations or information warranting attention. Possesses strong knowledge of financial/accounting software, such as Sage300 ERP, or related accounting software; strong MS skills, particularly with Excel and Word. Education, Credentials and Experience
BA/BS degree in Accounting with minimum of 2 years related experience preferred. AS/AA Degree in Accounting with minimum of 5 years related experience would be considered. Some supervisory experience preferred. Strong MS skills required, particularly with Excel and Word.
